A Mountain in dreams. What does it mean?

1. The mountain in a dream may symbolize the dwellings of the martyrs in Paradise, especially if it appears slippery, or if the dreamer sees himself sliding down from it. This is based on the authentic hadith where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) interpreted the dream of ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) in this way.
2. The mountain may also represent strength, protection, and the ability to face dangers, as Allah Almighty says:

“He said: I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water. He said: There is no protector today from the decree of Allah except for whom He has mercy…” (Hūd 11:43).

3. A mountain in a dream can indicate the gathering of scattered or separate matters, as in the verse:

“And [mention] when Abraham said, ‘My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead.’ [Allah] said, ‘Have you not believed?’ He said, ‘Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be satisfied.’ [Allah] said, ‘Take four birds and commit them to yourself. Then [after slaughtering them] put on each mountain a portion of them; then call them—they will come [flying] to you in haste. And know that Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.’” (Al-Baqarah 2:260).

4. Looking at a mountain or seeing it collapse may symbolize errors in faith and creed, or difficult trials beyond one’s endurance, as in Allah’s saying:

“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, ‘My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.’ [Allah] said, ‘You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me.’ But when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He made it crumble, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, ‘Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers.’” (Al-Aʿrāf 7:143).

5. The mountain may symbolize a strong, righteous, and God-fearing man, as in Allah’s words:

“If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and splitting from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.” (Al-Ḥashr 59:21).

6. Mountains may also represent solid and secure dwellings, as Allah Almighty says:

“They used to carve out from the mountains houses, feeling secure.” (Al-Ḥijr 15:82).

7. In some cases, mountains in dreams may symbolize bombs or places exposed to explosions, as in the verse:

“And they ask you about the mountains, so say, ‘My Lord will blow them away with a blast.’” (Ṭā Hā 20:105).

8. Mountains may also refer to places where bees make their homes, as Allah says:

“And your Lord inspired the bee, saying: Take for yourself among the mountains houses…” (An-Naḥl 16:68).

9. Seeing a mountain moved or displaced from its place may indicate a major and dangerous plot or conspiracy, as in the verse:

“And they had already planned their plan, but their plan is with Allah, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains.” (Ibrāhīm 14:46).

10. The mountain in a dream can also signify inability, weakness, or human limitation, as Allah says:

“And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.” (Al-Isrāʾ 17:37).

11. Finally, mountains in dreams may symbolize mountainous regions, the minerals extracted from them, the hard life of the mountains, challenges, or elevated places.
