Do sad dreams have any important meaning?

Sometimes, I have a bad dream, but I wonder if it could have an interpretation or if I may ask about it. Is that possible?

Answer : According to the Sunna of the prophet Muhammad (May peace and blessings be upon him) it is not good to ask about an interpretation for a bad dream for the following reasons:

1. A bad dream could be a false one from the devil to make the Muslim sad or worried.

2. Your dream may fall into the hands of an ignorant person who may make the bad dream worse by giving you an unpleasant interpretation.

So, the Muslim should be very cautions about telling his or her bad dreams to anyone. If you have a bad dream you are advised to pray or read verses from the Noble Quran or ask Allah to save you from the devil and the evil.

In some few cases, a bad dream could be true and could be a caution. In general, you should never ask unexperienced people about your dreams. If you cannot find a trustworthy Muslim who can understand these dreams, you are advised to keep them to yourself until you find someone.
