Prophetic and Noble Figures: Muhammad ﷺ and the Prophets
Seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a dream in his noble and true form as he was in this world, described as he was ﷺ, smiling, speaking kind words, or doing something praiseworthy and beloved, is among the greatest dreams indicating relief from worries. Allah Almighty says: “Certainly, there has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves; grievous to him is what you suffer; ardent is he for you; to the believers full of compassion and mercy.” [At-Tawbah:128]. Similarly, all the prophets in a good form indicate relief from worries.
The Mention of Allah Almighty and Mosques
Any dream containing the remembrance of Allah Almighty in goodness, whether it is through prescribed dhikr from the Qur’an and Sunnah or other dhikr that does not contradict them, and contains no innovation or sin, may indicate relief from worries and comfort for the heart and soul. Places of dhikr, such as mosques, Quran memorization centers, and similar locations, may also indicate the same. Allah Almighty says: “…Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” [Ar-Ra’d:28].
Angels
All angels of mercy appearing in a dream can indicate relief from worries. Allah Almighty says: “It is He Who sends blessings upon you, as do His angels…” [Al-Ahzab:43] and “When your Lord revealed to the angels: ‘I am with you, so strengthen those who believe…’” [Al-Anfal:12]. And He says: “…Your Lord will strengthen you with five thousand angels marked [for battle].” [Al-Imran:125] and “They said, ‘O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; they will not reach you…’” [Hud:81]. Also: “Indeed, those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying]: ‘Do not fear and do not grieve, and rejoice in Paradise which you were promised.’” [Fussilat:30]. Seeing angels in a dream for a righteous Muslim is glad tidings of mercy, relief, joy, strength, victory, empowerment, protection, salvation, guidance, forgiveness, repentance, sustenance, and Allah’s pleasure.
Righteous Relatives
Seeing a close person who is righteous and beneficial may indicate relief for the dreamer and help from people who support and assist them. The closer, more righteous, and more beneficial they are, the better. A righteous father in a dream signifies strength and sustenance, a mother signifies mercy and facilitation, and a brother signifies assistance and support.
People of Faith and Righteousness
Those who remember Allah Almighty and live on the path of truth and worship, with good character toward people, bring no distress to the dreamer in wakefulness or in dreams. Seeing them may indicate goodness, help, righteous companionship, and ease in religion and worldly matters, God willing.
Ablution, Bathing, and Purification
These symbolize comfort for the body and soul, pleasure to the Lord Almighty, and preparation for prayer, reading the Qur’an, and drawing near to Allah Almighty.
Prayer
As the Prophet ﷺ said: “O Bilal, establish the prayer, give us comfort through it.” [Authentic – Abu Dawood]
Zakat
It is obligatory for purification and growth of the one who gives it, and to relieve the worries and hardships of the one who receives it.
Fasting and Breaking the Fast
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The fasting person has two joys: when he breaks his fast, he rejoices, and when he meets his Lord, he rejoices with his fasting.”
Hajj and Umrah
Allah Almighty says: “…That they may witness benefits for themselves.” [Al-Hajj:27] and the Prophet ﷺ said: “Umrah to Umrah expiates what is between them, and an accepted Hajj has no reward except Paradise.” [Authentic]
Supplication (Dua)
Allah Almighty says: “And your Lord said, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’” [Ghafir:60] and “Say, ‘What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?’” [Al-Furqan:77]
Seeking Forgiveness (Istighfar) or Repentance
Allah Almighty says: “And I said: Seek forgiveness of your Lord; indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send rain from the sky upon you in abundance and give you wealth and children and make for you gardens and make for you rivers.” [Nuh:12-10] The Prophet ﷺ also said: “Whoever persists in seeking forgiveness, Allah will provide for him a way out of every distress, relief from every worry, and sustenance from unexpected sources.” [Authentic]
Eid Celebrations
Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, being days of celebration, joy, and expansion for Muslims, indicate relief from worries.
Removal of Harm
Seeing the disappearance of a harmful matter or the end of damage in a dream may indicate relief from worries.
Light
Allah Almighty says: “Light upon light; Allah guides to His light whom He wills.” [An-Nur:35] and “…He brings you out from darkness into light, and indeed Allah is ever compassionate and merciful toward you.” [Al-Hadid:9] Seeing light in a dream may indicate guidance, religious righteousness, relief from worries, and mercy. It may also signify angels, as they are created from light.
Salvation
Seeing salvation from harm in a dream may indicate relief from worries, protection from worldly harms, preservation from religious trials, or protection from Allah’s punishment.
Flying
Allah Almighty says: “…And they did not kill him, but Allah raised him up…” [An-Nisa:157-158] Thus, rising in a dream symbolizes relief from difficulties and worries.
Righteous Deceased
A deceased person who was righteous and died upon Islam is considered among the blessed, God willing.
Childbirth
It symbolizes the end of suffering and the joy of receiving a child, representing relief in dreams.
Avoiding or Overcoming Dangers
Seeing avoidance or overcoming dangers in a dream is glad tidings of relief from worries.
Telling of Worries and Problems
Allah Almighty says: “…So when he came to him and narrated to him the stories, he said, ‘Do not fear; you have been delivered from the wrongdoing people.’” [Al-Qasas:25]
Crying
Seeing crying in a dream without screaming or wailing due to harm is glad tidings for the righteous Muslim, a mercy from Allah Almighty. It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ cried for his daughter Zainab when she passed away. When asked, he said: “I do not cry; it is only mercy…” [Authentic]
Death
It was narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ experienced the distress of death, Fatimah said: “O my father, such distress!” He ﷺ replied: “No distress upon your father from today.” Thus, seeing the death of the righteous indicates relief from worries and the removal of burdens.
Rain
Allah Almighty says: “…And He it is Who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy, and He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.” [Ash-Shura:28] and “…And He sends down water from the sky, thereby bringing forth provisions for you from the fruits.” [Al-Baqarah:22] The Prophet ﷺ also said: “Seek the response to supplication during the meeting of armies, the establishment of prayer, and the descent of rain.” [Hasan] Seeing rain in a dream may indicate Allah’s mercy, good provision, and answered supplication.
Fleeing and Fear
Allah Almighty says: “So I fled from you when I feared you; then my Lord granted me judgment and made me among the messengers.” [Ash-Shu‘ara:21] Seeing fleeing from danger with fear in a dream is glad tidings of relief and salvation.
Medicine, Treatment, and Healing of Illness
Since illness brings harm, weakness, pain, and sorrow, seeing oneself healed in a dream may indicate glad tidings of strength, wellness, comfort, and joy. This vision may also indicate guidance and righteousness in religion, God willing.
Forgiveness or Compensation after Harm
Seeing forgiveness or compensation for harm in a dream may indicate glad tidings of Allah’s forgiveness in difficult matters or compensation for real harm.
Giving of Goodness
Seeing acts of giving and generosity in a dream indicates provision and blessings.
Marriage
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The whole world is a provision, and the best provision of the world is a righteous woman.” [Authentic] Seeing marriage in a dream is glad tidings of sustenance, abundance, comfort, and joy for men or women.
Children
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Support me the weak, for you are provided for and helped through your weak ones.” [Authentic] Seeing children in a dream may indicate glad tidings of provision, victory, and joy.
Victory
Allah Almighty says: “…On that day, the believers will rejoice in the help of Allah…” [Ar-Rum:5:4] Seeing the achievement of victory in a dream may be glad tidings of strength, triumph, empowerment, and relief from worries for the righteous Muslim, God willing.
Destruction of the Enemy
Allah Almighty says: “Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands, disgrace them, help you against them, and heal the hearts of a believing people.” [At-Tawbah:14]
Riding
Seeing riding any means of transportation in a dream is glad tidings of safety and relief from worries. Allah Almighty says: “He said, ‘Ride in it in the name of Allah, its course and anchoring. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.’” [Hud:41]
Travel and Relocation
These dreams indicate change of circumstances and positive transformations for the righteous Muslim, God willing.
Food and Drink
Seeing beautiful food and drink in a dream signifies blessings, provision, and upcoming goodness.
The Day of Judgment
Since it is a day of justice when the obedient are honored and supported, seeing it in a dream indicates glad tidings.
Ruler or Judge
Seeing a ruler or judge in a dream may indicate strength, provision, facilitation, justice, and the lifting of oppression.
Relieving Needs
Seeing relief in physical needs in a dream signifies comfort, health, and healing, and glad tidings of relief from worries.
Comfort of Body and Soul
Seeing oneself at ease in a dream may indicate glad tidings of comfort in wakefulness.
Fulfilling a Wish
Seeing a fulfilled wish in a dream may indicate compensation for unmet desires, whether through oneself, an equivalent, or something better, God willing.
Good Words with Glad Tidings
Hearing kind words in a dream with glad tidings indicates relief from worries.
Strength
If seen by a righteous Muslim, it may signify the removal of weakness, assistance, and empowerment.
Facilitation and Ease
Seeing righteous people in a dream making a difficult matter easy may indicate facilitation in real life as well, God willing.
Horses
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Horses are tied by their forelocks with good until the Day of Judgment: reward and spoils.” [Muslim] Seeing horses in a dream may indicate strength, victory, elevation, empowerment, and provision. It may also indicate marriage, as one is considered protected, and Allah Almighty calls the married person “protected.”
Keys and Open Doors
Seeing keys or open doors in a dream may indicate new opportunities in religion and worldly affairs and the facilitation of difficult matters. It may also signify sustenance, God willing.
Good Opinion of Allah
As stated in the Qudsi Hadith: “I am as My servant thinks of Me; if he thinks good, he will have it, and if he thinks evil, he will have it.” [Authentic] Seeing oneself holding a good opinion of Allah in a dream may indicate glad tidings of relief from worries in wakefulness.
Affection, Mercy, and Compassion
Seeing these traits in a dream, whether from known righteous people or strangers in good form, may indicate mercy from Allah Almighty, facilitation of difficulties, and joy.
People of Bliss and Enjoyment
Seeing people in a dream who are blessed may indicate their blessings and what Allah Almighty has honored them with. Seeing them may bring glad tidings of some of their blessings.
Beloved Things and Persons
Seeing beloved objects or people in a dream in good form may indicate glad tidings of joy, support, and assistance, either from them directly or from similar sources.
Return of Lost Good
Seeing something lost in life appear in good form in a dream may indicate glad tidings of compensation from Allah Almighty in this life or the Hereafter.
A Difficult Question without an Answer
Often appearing at the end of a dream, when the dreamer wakes before the answer or without it, this indicates facilitation of a difficult problem and easing by Allah Almighty. The Prophet ﷺ said: “O people, Allah has made Hajj obligatory upon you, so perform Hajj. A man asked: Every year, O Messenger of Allah? He remained silent until he asked three times. The Prophet ﷺ said: If I had said yes, it would have been obligatory, and you would not have been able…”
